About Adco

The Adco Brand began manufacturing retread tyres in 1956, primarily passenger tyres at first, using the Kentred hot cure process. In 1980 Adco changed production to pre-cured truck tyre retreads using the Kenprest system, and in 1983 switching solely to pre-cured retreading.

The Bandag System was introduced in 2013, and has been adopted as our Premium Retread Process.

Retreads are manufactured by Adco to the highest standards and specifications with particular attention paid to detail. The materials we use in the retreading process are all of the highest quality, from treads to repair units. To reinforce Adco's commitment to quality, Adco became a member of the
RMA (Retread Manufacturers Association) in 1989.

On the 1st January 2004 Adco attained ECE Regulation 109 for Commercial Vehicles Retreads and is also ISO registered.

Based at Tavanagh Industrial Estate in Portadown, Co Armagh, we consider ourselves to be a truly environmentally friendly company.

ADCO Retreads takes on Bandag franchise

ADCO Retreads in Portadown takes on Bandag franchise October 11, 2013 ADCO Retreads, based in Portadown, has decided to develop the business by adding a Bandag partnership, following a management buy-out. Bandag. The strength of Bridgestone’s retreading proposition has been emphatically underlined after one of Northern Ireland’s most respected specialists opted for a franchise operation with the Bandag brand. ADCO Retreads boasts 30 years of industry experience and decided to make the bold business step in order to consolidate and grow. Bridgestone’s retread development manager Terry Salter said that an approach of an alliance, working in partnership in the market with Bandag provided a sustainable mid-term and long term solution.

He said: “ADCO is keen to embrace the Bandag brand and will rebrand its website, vehicles and signage as a result. We are delighted to be embarking on a new relationship with the business which will benefit from the strength of our national proposition. This new signing is also strategically important for us in giving a franchise presence in Northern Ireland after an absence of more than 25 years.” ADCO is expected to see an immediate benefit in retread supply and casing management for Bridgestone fleet business in Northern Ireland, specifically the Ulster Bus contract.Terry added: “We are passionate in maintaining quality standards with a commitment to install Bandag 7400U Shearography and ADCO will play a pivotal role in this.”

“We expect initial retread volumes to hit the 5,500 mark per year with a growth ambition to 8000 per year within the first franchise term.” Bandag’s ease in sourcing a regular supply of casings was also seen as a big factor for ADCO, along with the strength of a European network. In 2007, Bridgestone acquired Bandag Incorporated, forming Bridgestone Bandag, LLC. By April 2008, the sales and marketing teams of Bridgestone Bandag, LLC and the truck and bus division of BSAM’s subsidiary tyre company joined forces to deliver their fleet and dealer customers total tyre solutions as a single integrated package. The new group is known as Bridgestone Bandag Tire Solutions (BBTS).

Today, Bridgestone Bandag Tyre Solutions (BBTS) is a division of Bridgestone Americas Tyre Operations (BATO), allowing the two groups to better service their customers by offering a comprehensive tire maintenance solution backed by a complete line of new and retread truck tyre offerings.
