Benefits of Retread Tyres. |
- Retreaded tyres can give a similar mileage as comparable
new tyres, at a lower cost-per-mile.
- The cost of a retreaded tyre can be from 30% to
50% less than the cost of leading brand new tyres.
This translates to millions of pounds in savings for
consumers and trucking fleets every year.
- Reteads are available with all types of tread patterns,
including all-season and mud and snow tread patterns
off the road and long haul.
- Retreading greatly reduces solid waste disposal
problems. Every tyre retreaded is a tyre saved from
the landfill. Retreading is truly recycling!
- Energy savings. Retreading conserves hundreds of
millions of gallons of oil every year.
- Approximately 70% of the cost of a new tyre is in
the tyre body. With proper maintenance, retreading
permits the continued use of your important investment.
- Retreaded tyres generally carry a warranty comparable
to that of a new tyre.
- Retreads are also environmentally friendly. Tyres
are basically petrochemical products. It takes 22
gallons of oil to manufacture one new truck tyre.
Most of the oil is found in the casing, which is reused
in the retreading process. As a result, it takes only
7 gallons of oil to produce a retread.
- Retreads in the UK have now to be manufactured to
European Regulation ECE Regulation 109.

| Retreads
- Are they as safe as a new tyre? The Legal Requirements
Explained. |
- Yes, of course they are! The modern day retreaded
tyre has since January 2004 to be manufactured to
European Regulation ECE Regulation 109 where the manufacturer
must be licensed.
- European Regulations for Retreading have been introduced
within the industry (ECE Regulation 109) and are implemented
within UK Law. This means that every retreader in
the UK is monitored by a Government Agency and must
be Approved where a unique Approval Number is to appear
on the tyres produced by that Company.
| Retreads
are a safe, value for money product produced
to exacting legal requirements. |
