Q: Why does The RINGTREAD®
System provide superior fuel economy to conventional
precure retreading?
A: Lower rolling resistance, better fuel economy, reliability
and longer mileage have always been important to Marangoni,
that’s why these performance characteristics were
designed into the unique RINGTREAD System and sets it
apart from conventional retreads.

The
RINGTREAD is designed round, not flat, and without a
splice to fit the tyre just as it should.
Not only did the RINGTREAD® System remove the technical
problem of the splicing of treads, the system was ahead
of it’s time in the introduction of contour shape
tread technology. Typically RINGTREADS produce 20% more
miles and 1 to 3% better fuel economy that conventional
flat treads.
Unlike conventional precure retreading, where flat tread
rubber is wrapped around a buffed tyre casing and the
tread ends are spliced together, the precured Marangoni
RINGTREAD® is molded in one piece in circular molds
so that it fits the contour of the round tyre and eliminates
the splice. This superior design eliminates the distortion
and deformation of the rubber that occurs in conventional
flat precure retreading.
The result is a uniform, better-balanced retreaded tyre,
which yields longer lasting, even tread wear that requires
less energy to roll and is cooler running. RINGTREAD®
users report the lowest cost per mile of any retread
product in the marketplace.
Marangoni achieves this lowest cost per mile benefit
for its customers with their RINGTREAD® product
for several reasons:

1. The contour shape of the tread matches the round
shape of the tyre; flat tread does not naturally fit
the round casing. A traditional flat-tread design causes
tread distortion when applied to a round casing therefore
resulting in reduced mileage. RINGTREAD® allows
maximum tread adhesion, preserves casing integrity,
eliminates stress between tread and casing and runs
much cooler.

2. A conventional flat tread requires splicing and the
tread pattern is subject to being mismatched and distorted.
This practice results in a heavy spot at the splice,
creating an unbalanced condition and the possibility
of a splice failure. Because RINGTREAD® is a continuous
ring, it is uniform all around and this results in a
uniform tread pattern and new tyre appearance.
The RINGTREAD® System delivers perfect fitment
and even wear. With its no-splice installation and laser-guided
centering on the casing, the end result is a truly balanced
retread. Because of it’s improved performance
RINGTREAD can deliver more miles with a shallower skid
depth thus reducing further rolling resistance improving
fuel economy and extending casing life.
Since first designing and developing the RINGTREAD®
